Let me say this quickly, headaches suck, I mean really, who wants to have a headache.Luckily, Life’s Answers is here to help with 10 Awesome Tips On How to Get Rid Of Headaches. Without Aspirin! BARGAIN!
1. Slam on an Ice pack: Don’t actually SLAM it, that will actually hurt. If you have a migraine ( A headache with throbbing pain on one side of the head. ) Then this is an awesome tip. Take a towel and wrap Ice cubes in it, a bag of cold peas from the freezer, or even a cold bath. Do this every 15 minutes and take a small break in between. Probably because, keep it on for too long you will cure your headache and then get a MASSIVE Brain Freeze.
2. Use a Heating Pad or Compress: If you have a Tension headache ( It feels like something is clamping your skull. ) Place a heating pad on your neck or on the back of your neck. If you have a sinus headache ( Sinuses are air-filled spaces in your forehead and cheekbones, when you have an allergy, these swell cause a painful headache. ) Place the pad on the area it hurts.
3. Loosen the pressure on scalp or head: This means just remove anything too tight that you think is causing you a headache. Such as hats,swimming goggles, headbands, etc. Also cool fact, one study shows that women loosening their ponytails loose their headaches quickly.
4. Dim the Lights: As much as you feel by taking advantage of your headache to binge some Netflix or play Basketball outside, this could actually harm you. Too much exposure to light causes a migraine. Try to wear sunglasses if you’re going outside. And enjoy your power nap.
5. Try not to Chew: Probably the strangest one on this list, but chewing gum not only hurts your jaw but also your head as well. Avoid chewing fingernails, pens, crunchy and sticky foods. If you grind your teeth at night buy a mouth guard. I feel really bad right now for those stress eaters out there.
6. Get some Caffeine: Have some Tea, Coffee, anything with caffeine in it. Because caffeine relieves you of headaches…most of the time. You could only stop your headache with caffeine if you drink/eat it early or if you don’t drink too much, because that would make matters worse for you.
7. Practice Relaxation: If you are the Ultimate Yoga Master, then this headache is no match for your PROWESS. ALL HAIL YOGA! Basically, do something that really makes you chill….(except Netflix, Xbox, etc.) Meditation, Yoga, and progressive muscle relaxation. Ask your doctor for physical therapy if you face muscle spasms in your neck.
8. Try Massage: You can do it yourself, or get someone professional to give you a full-out massage. This will really stop a lot of the headache you have, whether big or small. Or you could just go if your stressed, like everyone else.
9. Take some Ginger: For those people like me, who only take Fast food and Chinese Takeout, and have never seen the healthy side of Life, Ginger is a flowering plant that is widely used in most herbal concoctions and a wide array of dishes, this plant is Nature’s Aspirin. You could try a supplement, or max your headache remover by combining caffeine and ginger. GINGER TEA!
10. Take Meds in Moderation: Although you don’t HAVE to, you could still take some meds. Take liquid over pills because your body swallows it a lot faster, Take painkillers if things get REAL BAD, although you only need a small dose; If you have a stomachache as well as a headache ask your doctor for help. And lastly, Ask your doctor what to take if you get a rebound headache ( Pain that returns a few days after one takes pain relievers. )
